Over the past 2 decades of computing, one thing has been evident: technology’s charge into new arenas has almost always been led by developers. Going by the hundreds of thousands of apps on iOS & Android, what your smartphone can do today (think about posting pictures, flagging a cab, or messaging your friends halfway around the world) is the result of what developers around the world have imagined and brought to life for people everywhere.
At MobStac, we believe the full potential of BLE and iBeacon will come from what developers around the world apply it to with their collective imagination. This is the reason we have always made our products available to developers first and listened carefully to their feedback.
Today, we’re excited to bring Beaconstac to a fast-growing, cross-platform app development platform: Xamarin.
Xamarin makes it possible to create native iOS, Android, and Windows apps using C#, a clean, modern programming language that is very popular amongst nearly 8 million developers worldwide. Xamarin enables native iOS development in C#, with native performance and access to APIs. Developers can reuse their existing C# code, and share significant code across device platforms.
Along with our friends at Xamarin, we’re pumped about making Beaconstac available to C# developers looking to create compelling iBeacon-enabled apps. The Beaconstac Xamarin component binds our existing Beaconstac iOS SDK so that it may be used in Xamarin.iOS projects to detect, and monitor iBeacons and add proximity-enabled content delivery and notifications to your apps.
We’re kicking off the partnership with an exciting #BeaconPotential contest alongside Xamarin. This contest is for app developers to submit their beacon app idea and tell us why the app is ‘Beggin’ for a Beacon’. Participants in the contest stand a chance to win some interesting prizes including Rasberry Pi 2 kits and exciting swag from MobStac.
